“The Water Of Life is a German fairytale written by the Grimm Brothers. I chose to visually develop this story into an animated film for my senior thesis project at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. What you see here are a few of the finished designs for the proposed animation.
The scenic and character designs took heavy influences from various styles of architecture (Indian, Russian, African, etc.) and fashion (designer Alexander McQueen, Japanese, Thai, Native American, etc.). The overall art style of the project utilizes a graphic line quality inspired by Eyvind Earle’s work and the animated film The Secret of Kells.”
There will be another post almost identical to this one with the character sheets! Stay tuned!
